Gutter Cleaning Costs in Waterloo (2026)

Planning ranges for gutter cleaning in Waterloo in 2026, including multi-house landlord plans, and why a long Beechwood ranch under maples costs more than a taller, newer house in Laurelwood.

Treat every figure below as a planning range for 2026, useful for telling a fair quote from an odd one and for nothing more precise than that. Waterloo houses vary more than most in the two things that drive gutter work, trough length and ladder height, and what is inside the downspouts cannot be seen from the street, so the real number is written after a look at the house or at clear photos of each side.

Where the work usually lands

JobPlanning rangeWhat pushes it up
Eavestrough clean, ranch or bungalow$150–$300A sixty-metre Lakeshore or Beechwood roof with six downspouts under maples in November; the range is for a typical house and a long ranch can exceed it on volume
Eavestrough clean, two-storey or split$250–$450Six-metre eaves, steep gables, landscaped or sloping ground under the ladder
Downspout unblocking only$60–$120 per downspoutCharged this way only when the troughs do not need a clean; within a clean it is included. An elbow split by ice is a small repair on top
Guards on existing troughs$10–$30 per linear footFine stainless mesh at the top of the range, screen at the bottom; a big-lot house carries 150 to 200 feet, one run far less
Small repairs with a clean$100–$350 per visitOne resealed mitre at the bottom; a full side converted from spikes to hidden hangers at the top
Fall-and-spring plan, two-storey$450–$800 per yearPer-visit pricing at a modest discount to one-off cleans
Fall-only plan$150–$400 per yearLighter streets and guarded houses where the visit is a check
Landlord service, several housesPlan rate per house, route discount by countEach house quoted on its own merits; a Northdale portfolio is priced as one schedule rather than separate calls

The table assumes ordinary residential eavestroughs that a ladder can reach. Low-rise commercial, flat roofs with internal drains and anything that needs a lift are quoted after a visit.

Why two Waterloo quotes for the same street can be so different

Trough length first. This is the Waterloo peculiarity. A 1970s ranch on a wide Lakeshore lot can carry twice the eavestrough of a two-storey on a small lot and have six downspouts to the two-storey's three, so a low house can be the bigger job. Then height and footing. A two-storey eave at six metres over beds, slopes, window wells and decks means every ladder set is slow and done to fall-protection rules. Then the trees. On the newer west side the trough yields a handful of grit; under a Beechwood maple in November it yields a bucket every few feet, all of which is carried down the ladder. The City's optional leaf program zones are a rough map of this. Then the downspouts, which are where the hidden time is: a pipe packed at both elbows, or one that disappears underground and has to be tested for backup. Finally the extras: moss in a north-facing trough near the conservation lands, which is scraped rather than flushed, and existing guards that have to come off and go back on.

Reading a quote

A usable quote names the number of downspouts included and says each one is flushed and tested; says what becomes of the debris; says whether small repairs are in or quoted separately; promises photos; and, for a rental, names who the photos and invoice go to. A figure given over the phone for a house nobody has seen is a guess, and guesses get revised on the day in the direction you will not like.

Deliberately missing from this page

Prices for eavestrough replacement, new installation and fascia or soffit carpentry. Those belong to an installer and this site does not quote them. When a gutter is past cleaning and small repair the crew says so, with photos, and you take that to an installer for the right quote.

Frequently asked questions

How can a bungalow cost more to clean than a two-storey?

Trough length and downspout count. A long Lakeshore ranch can carry sixty metres of eavestrough and six downspouts, and under maples in November that is a great deal of material to bring down a ladder. The two-storey has height instead. The two can land in the same range for opposite reasons.

Would a spring clean cost less than a fall one?

A little, since the troughs hold less and the diary is quieter. On a treed street it is a supplement to the November clean, not a replacement for it, because the November clean is the one that keeps ice out of the trough. In Laurelwood and the west side, spring can reasonably be the single yearly visit.

Do blocked downspouts cost extra?

Not within a clean: flushing, testing and opening a packed elbow are part of the visit. The exception is a downspout that has to be dismantled along its length or replaced because ice has split it, which is a small repair and is agreed before it is done.

I have four student houses. How does the pricing work?

Each house gets its own figure at the plan rate, because a storey-and-a-half under trees and a bungalow with a young boulevard tree are different amounts of work, and a route discount grows with the number of houses on the schedule. One schedule, one report per house per visit, and one invoice if you want it that way.

Does the City's stormwater credit pay for any of this?

No. The credit trims the stormwater line on your utility bill once the City approves a barrel, cistern or soakaway on the property. It is not a rebate on gutter work. A barrel diverter can be fitted during a visit; you send the application to the City by email or mail and the decision is theirs.

Are the ranges before or after HST?

Before. Quotes show the price and HST as separate lines.
